BEVERLY, Mass. - Endicott women’s soccer dominated Wellesley in a 2-0 win on Wednesday night. The Gulls move to 3-0 to start the year and finish their three-game homestand undefeated.
From the opening whistle, the Gulls were on top of the Blue. Through 15 minutes, Endicott was constantly pushing the Wellesley backline. The front three of Morgan Hubert, Riley Rischitelli, and Grace Jewett had the Blue on their heels early.
The Gulls could not break through until Wellesley committed a handball inside the penalty box. Rischitelli stepped up to take it, and the senior calmly tucked it to the left of the goalie and put Endicott up 1-0.
Despite carrying play for the rest of the half, the Gulls only managed a 1-0 lead entering the second half.
The second half played out much like the first, as Endicott was dominant in all aspects of the game. They carried possession and had the ball in the attacking third for most of the half.
The Gulls were unable to capitalize on any chances until the 78th minute, when Ella Morgan played a beautiful ball to junior Alyssa McColl, who scored the insurance goal and put Endicott up 2-0.
This lead held for the final 10 minutes, and the Gulls recorded their second clean sheet of their first three games and have still only allowed one goal this season.
The Gulls managed to blank the Blue in the shot column, with Wellesley recording zero shots attempted in the game. This marked the second time this season, the first being against Lasell, where zero shots on goal were taken on the Gulls.
Endicott moved to 3-0 on the season and begins a three-game away stretch on Saturday at Union N.Y.
Wellesley falls to 1-1 and looks to bounce back on Saturday against SUNY Delhi.
