BEVERLY, Mass. - The Endicott women’s ice hockey team cruised to a 5-1 victory over Johnson & Wales on Saturday afternoon.
The Gulls started out hot, opening up the scoring 12 minutes into the game. Sophomore forward Maggie Lynch turned over the Wildcats in their zone and scored, giving Endicott an early advantage.
It looked like the Gulls would enter intermission with a 1-0. That changed, as with just 26 seconds left in the period, Endicott gathered the puck in the JWU zone. The puck found Samantha Fantasia, who netted a goal. They led 2-0 after the first period.
JWU scored the lone goal in the second period. With the Endicott lead cut in half, they entered the third period looking for some insurance.
Endicott blew it open in the third period. Six minutes in, JWU got a penalty. On the power play, Lynch netted her second of the night on a rebound from a shot by Teaghan Hall.
With just under 5 minutes to go, Lindsay Goodman found herself on a breakaway. She slotted it and extended the lead to 4-1.
On yet another powerplay with under a minute to go, Lynch scored once again and gave Endicott a 5-1 lead.
Lynch recorded her first hat-trick of her career and the sixth in program history. Fantasia’s goal marked the 31st of her career, which puts her fifth all-time in Endicott history.
Hall and Ella Rago each recorded three assists apiece. Lauren Ferrari recorded 22 saves in net and improved her record on the season to 3-0-0.
Endicott moves to 6-2-0 in conference play with this win and 8-3-0 overall. They also stay undefeated on their home ice.
The Gulls look to keep this momentum Tuesday, December 10, against Norwich.
