BEVERLY, Mass. - Endicott women’s ice hockey, ranked No. 11 nationally, defeated Curry College 3-1 on Friday night at Bourque Arena.
A strong defensive effort from the Gulls was led by goalie Casey Moritz, who recorded 36 saves en route to her 1000th career save, becoming just the second goalie in program history to reach this feat.
Endicott had a slow start to the contest but was able to limit Curry as well, with the first period ending at a scoreless 0-0.
The second period started slowly as well until the Colonels jumped to a 1-0 lead just over 13 minutes into the period. Endicott responded quickly with a goal by Abbey Agrodnia, assisted by Riley Perkins and Gracyn Kurrle. The goal, with just under three minutes to play, equalized the game 1-1 heading into the final period.
Endicott’s offense fully came alive in the final frame to secure the victory. Four minutes into the period, Maddie DiNardo scored an unassisted goal that would end up being the game winner.
Endicott then took a penalty, but Julia Carrigan, off of an assist from Teaghan Hall, scored a shorthanded goal to extend Endicott’s lead with under 13 minutes to play. Curry failed to score for the rest of the period, and the Gulls took home a 3-1 victory on their home ice.
Endicott looks to stay hot on Saturday, January 24 as they look to beat Curry again on the road at 3 PM.
