BEVERLY, Mass. - Marcus Montagnino scored his 1,000th point en route to a commanding 102-80 victory over Johnson & Wales.
It looked as though the Gulls were going to run away with it early, jumping to a 35-16 lead over the visiting Wildcats. JWU crawled back behind inspired play from junior Alvin Baez. Endicott entered the second half leading 51-45.
Endicott made their move in the second half, jumping to a quick 14-4 run. Following this, they led by double figures the rest of the way. Shots kept falling for the Gulls, and they cruised to a 22-point victory in their home gym.
Elijah Kinney paced the Gulls with a 30 point performance, adding 8 rebounds as well. Marcus Montagnino had 25 points, 10 rebounds, and 6 assists in his historic game. Matt Boen added 20 points of his own, along with 7 rebounds, 5 assists, and 4 steals.
Montagnino became the 20th Gull to record 1,000 career points, doing so in just 46 games.
Despite the loss, Alvin Baez had an astounding 46 points on the road, a great individual effort the Gulls were able to overcome.
The Gulls move to a perfect 12-0 in the conference, their best start ever, as well as 20-1 overall on the season. They sit at No. 14 in the DIII national rankings.
Endicott looks to stay hot in the CNE on the road against UNE on Wednesday.
Johnson & Wales looks to bounce back on Wednesday at home against Wentworth.
