BEVERLY, Mass. - Endicott men’s soccer dominated Curry College 4-0 in a home contest at Hempstead Stadium on Wednesday evening.
The Gulls were unable to find the back of the net the entire first half despite controlling play for most of the first frame. They outshot Curry 13-4 and despite some quality chances, they entered the break tied 0-0.
Endicott quickly capitalized on their chances early and often in the second half. Just under two minutes into the half, Aidan Sheehan dribbled past two defenders into the box, played a one-two pass with Conor Rooney, and found the bottom left corner to break the ice.
In the 57th minute, Rooney got in on the scoring action, putting one away after the ball found his foot off of a mis-clearance from a Curry defender.
Graham Butterworth netted the third goal of the game at the 66th minute mark. Sheehan played a beautiful cross into the box, and Butterworth was there to tap it in.
Ethan Nunes scored the dagger in the 81st minute, and it was a special finish. He possessed a bouncing ball on the edge of the box, chipped it over a defender, and rocketed a volley into the top left corner.
The Gulls defense showed up in a big way, allowing only 9 shots and 2 shots on goal.
This win propelled the Gulls back to a .500 record, sitting at 7-7-2 and 5-4-0 in the CNE. Their next match will come on the road against conference rival Gordon College on Saturday, October 25.
Curry looks to bounce back at home against UNE on Friday, October 24.
