Men's Basketball Narrowly Tops Wentworth 79-65

BEVERLY, Mass. - No. 15 nationally ranked Endicott men’s basketball defended their home court in a narrow 79-76 victory over the Wentworth Leopards.
This game was back and forth the whole way. Endicott led by as many as 10 points in the first half at 22-12. Wentworth hung around, and they cut the lead to just 5 points at the half.
In the second half, the Leopards led on six separate occasions leading by as many as 5 points. However, the Gulls took the lead back with 6:46 remaining and never looked back, securing a 79-76 victory.
Marcus Montagnino led the way for Endicott with 34 points, 10 rebounds, and 3 assists. Jeff Hill was the Gulls’ other double-digit scorer, adding 10 of his own.
Matt Boen led Endicott with 6 assists, adding 7 points and 6 rebounds as well.
Endicott played a strong defensive game, forcing 16 turnovers and outscoring Wentworth 19-12 on points off turnovers. The Gulls also dominated the offensive glass, scoring 18 second chance points compared to just 7 from the Leopards.
Endicott improved to 17-1 on the season and sits at a perfect 9-0 in Conference of New England play. They look to keep this historic start to their season going as they travel to face Nichols on Saturday, January 31.
Wentworth looks to bounce back with a home contest against Nichols on Tuesday, February 3.
