Men’s Basketball Handles Roger Williams on Senior Day

BEVERLY, Mass. - No. 14 Endicott men’s basketball took down Roger Williams 81-65 on Saturday, February 21 on Senior Day.
In the final game of the regular season, and the last of Conference of New England play, the Gulls capped off a 24-1 season and a perfect 16-0 record in the conference.
It did not come easy for Endicott, as Roger Willaims battled hard and kept the game competitive throughout the contest. The first ten minutes of the half were back and forth, and Roger Williams held a 16-15 advantage midway through the first half.
Behind some stellar play from Marcus Montagnino to close out the half, Endicott entered the second half leading 38-31 over the visiting Hawks.
The Gulls held strong to start the second half on the back of Elijah Kinney, who scored 11 of Endicott’s first 13 points to open the frame.
The multi-possession lead held throughout the half, with Roger Williams struggling to get within one possession. Endicott got the lead up to 10 points with just under eight minutes to play.
The Eagles were not done yet. They cut the lead to 65-61, but Caden Sullivan answered with a huge three-pointer to extend the lead right back up to 7 points. The lead never dropped below that, and Endicott took care of business 81-65.
Endicott was led by their phenomenal front court that has led them their entire season. Kinney finished with 26 points and 11 rebounds. Montagnino finished with 25 points, 16 rebounds, and 4 assists.
Senior guard Cam Keliher posted an impressive statline of 8 points, 7 rebounds, and a team high 6 assists. Caden Sullivan was the only other Gull in double figures, scoring 11 points and adding 9 rebounds of his own.
Eight graduating members of the team were celebrated prior to the game. Wilson Bennett, Matt Boen, Max Grenert, Jeff Hill, Cam Keliher, Carter Koenig, Jack Lewis, and Marcus Montagnino were all recognized.
Endicott will host the semifinal of the CNE Men’s Basketball Championship on Thursday, February 26 at 7:30. They will play the winner of Nichols and Roger Williams.
