Endicott men’s basketball defeated Salem State 82-66 at home on Thursday night in MacDonald Gymnasium.
A balanced scoring attack led the Endicott offense, with Ty Vitko and Jalen Echevarria each netting a game-high 18 points each.
The first half was back and forth for most of its duration. Neither team could pull away until the Gulls went on a 20-6 run nearing the end of the half, giving them a 44-31 lead at halftime.
Once Endicott took the lead, they did not look back. The Gulls stayed hot in the second half, leading by as much as 24 midway through.
Three-point shooting was a major deciding factor in the Gulls’ victory. Endicott made 15 threes on 37.5% shooting, while holding the Vikings to just 6 makes on 19.4%.
The Gulls had a team-oriented offensive attack. Scoring was balanced, with six players recording eight or more points and three in double figures. Endicott also recorded 24 assists on their 32 made field goals.
Endicott’s strong defense was on full display Thursday night, recording 13 steals as a team and winning the turnover battle. Salem State struggled all game to create good looks and string together consistency on the offensive end.
This win extends Endicott’s win streak to four in a row. They look to carry this momentum into their game against Saint Joseph’s next Wednesday.
