BEVERLY, Mass. - Endicott College hosted a ceremony Wednesday remembering and honoring the lives lost in the attacks on September 11, 2001.
The ceremony took place at 9:00 in the morning at the Memorial for Those Who Serve outside of the Center for Belonging.
Around 50 people attended the ceremony, and attendees included Endicott students, faculty, community members, and first responders.
To begin the ceremony, Police Captain Jeffrey Ladieu talked about some stories of those who lost their lives in the attacks.
Following his speech, Endicott President Steven DiSalvo spoke on the day. A New York native, DiSalvo discussed how he remembers the attacks like they were yesterday. He described how difficult of a conversation it was to tell his young children about the tragic event.
Endicott student Eamon Morrow sung a powerful rendition of the national anthem following the president’s speech.
Gail Cantor, Director of Belonging and Spiritual Life, led a prayer remembering those who lost their lives and honoring heroes who sacrificed their lives to save countless others.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held in the Center for Belonging for the Endicott police force. The school honored first responders of their own on this historic day.
